Review: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Hush, Hush Series (#1)
Young Adult
416 Pages (Paperback)
Published by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
ISBN: 1416989420

From Goodreads:
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.  With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

My Thoughts:

Where have I been all this time? I have been hearing about Hush Hush since I don't remember when… and  I never decided to read it. I always had other books in my bookshelf or in my e-reader that I thought there were better…Now I must admit how wrong I was…

When I started reading it I thought I was in front of another Twilight book ( The Biology Lab scene was too Twilight) but this time instead of vampires it was about Angels. (Ok, this is not a spoiler… You just need to see the cover to figure it out) But I was really wrong. After reading a few pages I just fell in love with Hush Hush. Even though the story is about a girl who is attracted to a mysterious guy, who at the end is  a mythical creature, or something like that… the book has something that makes it different from Twilight or Fallen.

And that is the mystery. The plot is full of mystery… Even thought we know this book is about Angels, it keeps everything really mysterious….  And that's not all. I thought for a moment I was reading a Thriller novel… The author just played with us like the same way "they" played with Nora, making us believe something that wasn't real, and hiding the truth all the time… so the only thing you can do is read and read…. I read this book in less than two days, and it took me so long because I had school and I had to study for a really creepy test.

The characters are really nice: Nora is a normal teenager girl...her best friend Vee (I loved the Hospital scene) and of course… Patch, who is the good/bad boy. (I love him) (I recommend you to read my Teaser Tuesday of Hush Hush, that's one of the reasons I loved his character, and I really enjoyed the novel)

Like any YA book, there is romance, but in this occasion was kind of overshadowed by the mystery around the characters… but of course… it was really enjoyable… Much better than a few ones I've read recently.  So, what can I say? This book was really good… and I'm really happy I finally read it. Better late than never.

My Rating:

I Love it!

    It's been a while since I've came across a Hush,Hush review.
I do have to agree with the similarities with Twilight.
