Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Beneath the realistic face she showed the world, there lurked a mushy center of romanticism. She blamed this on an early addiction to the Brontës, which gave her the unrealistic expectation that there was a man wandering the world who would become attached to her with a fervent, though preferably not doomed, devotion. All her life she'd kept an eye our for her Heathcliff, her Rochester, a man who would be able to hear her heart's desire if she opened the window and called his name on a stormy night.
Instead, she'd been sent Ben, who a lot of the time didn't hear her when she said something from across the living room.
Wherever Grace is Needed by Elizabeth Bass, page 18.
Oo; this sounds like a good one! (I haven't heard much about this book; but you've got a great teaser!) I love the bit of blaming her romanticism on keeping an eye open for her own Heathcliff!
